Rosz ha-Szana obchodzone jest jako pamiątka stworzenia świata, lecz również jako dzień sądu, zapoczątkowujący dziesięciodniowy okres rachunku sumienia i odbywania pokuty, zwany po hebrajsku Jamim Noraim, czyli Straszne Dni

Abstract: This chapter reports on the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (rrc)’s bold experimentation in the field of inter religious education as integral to its mission. It chronicles how, with the support of the Henry Luce Foundation, over the last decade and a half, rrc has responded to developments in the American and Jewish environment with an-ever evolving approach to the training of clergy. The chapter details two signature programs, one to build solidarity between Jews and Muslims, the other to create a novel entry point for education in interreligious literacy and co-spiritual formation across multiple traditions.

The Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics” was represented with 15 panels at this year’s conference of the “European Academy of Religion” (EuARe) on “Religion and Change”. The thematic spectrum of the conference ranged from local religious practices in antiquity and controversies surrounding Pope Pius XII, to religion and sustainability, and a roundtable on political Islam. The disciplines involved included history, theology, literature, political science, and anthropology.

The nineteenth- and twentieth-century historiography on the reception of Martin Luther’s writings on Jews and Judaism, his Judenschriften, is marked by an ongoing contestation concerning the reformer’s religious and political views. Did his reflections on the Jews constitute the core of his theology or were they merely a marginal aspect of his thinking? Was the anti-Jewish obsession that emerged ever more clearly at the later stages of his biography rooted in his theological convictions or was it triggered by contemporary social and political circumstances? The issue of continuity or discontinuity between earlier writings such as Daß Jesus ein geborener Jude sei (1523) and the viciously anti-Jewish writings published in 1543, too, remains an open question.
