Buntownicy występują w imieniu mas: „wszyscy są święci, a w pośród nich Wiekuisty; czemu więc wynosicie się nad zgromadzeniem Wiekuistego?” (Ks. Liczb 16,3; tłumaczenie Cylkowa). Każdy komentator wskazuje, że to demagogia, bo oponentom Mojżesza, a są to „ludzie znamienici”, nie chodzi o równość, ale w gruncie rzeczy zabiegają o przywileje i władzę dla siebie.

What was originally meant to be an international meeting in Berlin of historic significance by a 114 year old Jewish organization like ÀJC - the American Jewish Committee - on the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, was transformed by the advent of the Coronavirus into an international virtual meeting of great poignancy, with an audience that grew from the usual hundreds and became thousands.

Our world is living through exceptionally difficult times. Many countries are still in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic, while others are slowly coming out of lockdown to face its social and economic implications. In addition, many Western nations are self-critically examining the repercussions of colonialism and racism in their societies. In a climate of multiple crises, intergroup relations become strained and incendiary conspiracy theories abound.

When I chose to feature the three interviews listed above as one Introspection, this was based on a clear sense of the complementarity of the spiritual worldview of the three contributors. Religious worldviews are diverse. Even if fundamental beliefs unite almost all believers across religious differences, still, there are many ways of being religious. The three voices featured in this Introspection feel to me, and I am sure would also feel the same to the speakers themselves, as growing out of the same spiritual matrix. Jednak rozpacz ludzi, zwątpienie ludu, bunt mas to zjawiska całkowicie z naszego świata, a opisana w tekście reakcja Mojżesza jest godna uwagi i może stanowić wskazówkę dla liderów w naszych czasach. Haaretz: Jan Grabowski appeared on the cover of a right-wing Polish magazine at the end of May. The face of the Polish-born historian took up a large amount of the cover, against the background of a threatening black-and-white photograph from the period of World War II. “A Lie Without Punishment,” blared the headline of the mass-circulation newsweekly Do Rzeczy, and the subhead added, “In his book about the ‘Blue’ Police, Jan Grabowski again accuses the Poles of having taken part in the Holocaust.”
