W komunikacie na stronie WKEE czytamy: „24 lutego 2024 roku przypada druga rocznica rosyjskiej inwazji na Ukrainę. Prawdopodobnie już ponad pół miliona ludzi straciło życie w tej wojnie. Przemoc, cierpienie i zniszczenie stały się częścią codziennego życia wielu ludzi. Jednak nam, jako ludziom i Kościołom, nie wolno się do tego przyzwyczajać!”
Sekretarz generalny WKEE ks. dr Mario Fischer przebywał w Ukrainie w styczniu 2024 roku i wyraził solidarność z Kościołem luterańskim w tym kraju.
Na konferencji pastorów w Odessie przygotowano modlitwę o pokój, zachęcając wszystkie Kościoły członkowskie WKEE do udziału w nabożeństwach i modlitwach o pokój w okolicy 24 lutego.
