Under what conditions would the Orthodox engage in Judeo-Christian dialogue

The official dialogue between Churches and Judaism began between the two world wars, in America and then in England and intensified after the Second World War, reaching most Western European countries. The Eastern Churches feel estranged from this dialogue led by the Western Churches, as they have neither the same approach, nor the same history, nor the same texts of reference. This is why the Orthodox Churches wish to enter the dialogue according to their own approach, relying on their own texts, and recontextualizing the Fathers of Church when they speak about Judaism.

Воно і нині, як і два тисячоліття тому, закликає людей змінити своє життя земне, внутрішньо змінитися за закликом Євангелія, щоб оновитися для життя вічного. І воно утверджує в нас віру в те, що, яку б силу і могутність тимчасово не виявляло зло, Бог неодмінно переможе. Зло зазнає поразки. Світло віджене темряву. Смерть зникне, і навіть мертві – воскреснуть, бо Христос справді, воістину народився!
Ми молимося за наших братів та сестер, які відзначають ці святкові дні у неволі, на тимчасово окупованих російським ворогом українських землях. Згадаймо в молитві про наших військових і цивільних полонених, про заручників і несправедливо ув’язнених і попросімо в Господа для них захисту і швидшого звільнення.

Wywiad z protodiakonem prof. dr nauk Andrejem Kurajewem, teologiem, duchownym-dysydentem, usuniętym ze stanu duchownego przez patriarchę moskiewskiego Cyryla. Zwrócił się on z prośbą o przyjęcie przez patriarchę ekumenicznego Bartłomieja do jurysdykcji Patriarchatu Konstantynopolitańskiego.
Na wiosnę bieżącego roku emigrował i zamieszkał w Pradze, gdzie prowadzi wykłady m.in. na miejscowym Uniwersytecie im. króla Karola IV.

Patriarchal Message for the Beginning of the Ecclesiastical Year and the Solemn Day of Prayers for Natural Environment (September 1, 2023)

"It is in this context that we must also include and appreciate the terrible effects created by the invasion of Russia in Ukraine, which is associated with horrible ecological devastation. Every act of war is also a war against creation inasmuch as it is a grievous threat against the natural environment. The pollution of the atmosphere, of water and earth by bombings, the risk of nuclear holocaust, the emission of dangerous radiation from nuclear plants producing electrical energy, the carcinogenic dust from exploding buildings, the destruction of forests and depletion of arable agricultural property—all these bear witness to the fact that the people and ecosystem of Ukraine have undergone and continue to undergo incalculable losses. We repeat emphatically: The war should cease at once and sincere dialogue should commence."

The Origins of Anti-Jewish Rhetoric in the Hymns of Good Friday

The oldest-surviving Christian hymns designed exclusively for Holy Week are a set known as the Idiomele. In the modern Orthodox Church, they are sung during the Royal Hours service of Good Friday morning (the final hymn is sung during two additional services). Apart from their antiquity, the most noteworthy feature of these hymns is that they were the first to blame “the Jews” for the death of Christ.
