Nadzieję na czas bez wojny, bez ucisku, czas życia w spokoju i harmonii z innymi. Nie można o tym zapominać” – pisze Stanisław Krajewski. „Ale – ktoś spyta – dlaczego właściwie o tym przypominać?”.
Choć tekst poświęcony jest modlitwie, kończy się mocnym stwierdzeniem: „Obecnie główne zagrożenia dla Żydów są skutkiem istnienia państwa żydowskiego. To nie brak państwa, ale istnienie państwa w Ziemi Izraela powoduje niebezpieczeństwo! A pierwotne syjonistyczne wyobrażenie, że dzięki swojemu państwu Żydzi będą narodem jak każdy inny, brzmi teraz jak żart”.

Przeszliśmy w milczeniu przez teren byłego obozu Birkenau, pamiętając tragedię narodu żydowskiego podczas II wojny światowej. Modliliśmy się… Jest to nasz sposób wyrażenia bliskości z tymi, których obecna tragedia dotyka bezpośrednio.

Grudniowy czas, kiedy Żydzi rozpoczynają świętowanie Chanuki, a chrześcijanie poprzez Adwent przygotowują się do świąt Bożego Narodzenia, to dobry moment, by z jednej strony wyrazić wsparcie dla tych spośród nas, którzy spotykają się z jakąkolwiek formą agresji, a z drugiej – by samemu dokonać rachunku sumienia, czy nie przyłożyliśmy do tego ręki.

Polska Rada Chrześcijan i Żydów przyznaje mu tytuł „Człowieka Pojednania” za rok 2023. Jest to wyraz naszego uznania dla jego życiowej misji, która jest pięknym przykładem zbliżania chrześcijan i Żydów, Polski i Izraela. Chcemy wierzyć, że będziemy mogli wręczyć mu ten tytuł osobiście.
